Background

Founded 1994 as the regional transport association for the state of Hessen; Aufgabenträger for the entire Land. Shareholders are the Land Hessen, the districts and cities of the catchment area. Operates one of the densest S-Bahn and regional-rail networks in Germany, including the Frankfurt S-Bahn and the Rhein/Main-Neckar corridor, and has increasingly used Land-side guarantees in its most recent hydrogen-train and battery-train procurements.
